The newly announced Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 will be, in my opinion, a very welcome update to its predecessor the TZ1. Panasonic has done a lot more than just give the TZ1 a resolution upgrade. The new TZ3 still features a 10x optical zoom, but also allows wide angle shooting (28mm equivalent) and brings the 3 inch screen to the show. It also shoots at up to 7.2 megapixels and includes Panasonic’s MEGA O.I.S image stabilization system and Intelligent ISO Control.
The TZ3 has a slightly larger sensor than other cameras in the 7 megapixel class. The larger sensor allows the camera to shoot in a variety of aspect ratios: 4:3, 3:2 or 16:9 and still retain as much image data as possible.

One of eight new Panasonic cameras announced today, the ultra-zoom Lumix DMC-FZ8 is the successor to the FZ7. It features a 12x optical zoom with optical image stabilization, 7.2 megapixel resolution, 2.5 inch LCD, and a new Panasonic LSI Venus Engine III processor for better response times and quicker operation over its predecessor.

The Lumix DMC-LZ7, Lumix DMC-LZ6, and Lumix DMC-LS70 all feature what Panasonic is calling Intelligent Image Stabilization. Intelligent Image Stabilization is accomplished with the combination of optical image stabilization to counteract camera shake and Intelligent ISO Control to counteract subject movement. All of the new Lumix models include this technology.

The FX30 boasts that it is the world’s slimmest digital camera with a wide angle (28mm equivalent). It also gets a 7.2 megapixel resolution, a 3.6x optical zoom and a 2.5 inch LCD.
